Indian Premier League (IPL)

An argument can be made for the shape of the world. But IPL there can be no argument made when it comes to the love of cricket among the Indian people. This cricket fanatic country has over 400 million cricket fans that watch the sport regularly. So, India hosting one of the most thrilling cricket tournaments in the world is no surprise to anybody. The tournament is held via the stages below.

1. A double round-robin league stage 
2. Playoffs Round consisting of two qualifiers and an eliminators match
3. The Final

IPL contributed over $160 million to the Indian economy in 2015. In 2019 this behemoth of a cricket tournament had a net worth of over $6.7 billion.

ICC Cricket World Cup

Perhaps the most essential of all the cricket tournaments. The ICC Cricket World Cup isn’t the only tournament the International Cricket Council hosts, but it certainly is the biggest and can be named as the “King of Kings” among all the tournaments. Overall playing with 14 teams at a total this behemoth of a cricket tournament settles in 4 stages: 

• League Stage;
• Quarter Finals;
• Semi-Finals;
• The Final.

The winners of the final are deemed as “World Champions” for the next four years.

ICC World T20

As one of the newest forms of cricket, T-twenty format has expanded to new horizons beyond anyone’s imagination. The proof of that is the world cricket tournament held by all the major cricket teams. And the reasons to that could be:

1. The fast-paced nature makes it extremely thrilling;
2. It overcomes the long-time issue with the sport about cricket being too time-consuming;
3. The world tournament happens only within two years;
4. Records are made and broken regularly.

ICC Champions Trophy

It is the battle of the world’s finest. Only the top-ranking teams face off against each other. It first started in 1998 with the idea of being a knockout cricket tournament for the ICC World Cup. Eventually, the hype of the tournament went so off the chart that they decided to name it the ICC Champion Trophy. 

The Ashes

“Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust” – the Bible quote signifies the death of all creatures. But The Ashes Series played between Australia and England stands tall like the immortal Phoenix, rising from the dust of its death. It is a five-match test series that takes place every four years. These two teams collide in one of the greatest rivalries in the history of cricket. 

Big Bash League

The journey of the Big Bash League started in 2011 in the country of Australia. Played in T-20 format the cricket tournament has players from all over the world participating in it. The teams are formed under the states of the country. The eight teams competing are:

1. Perth Scorchers;
2. Adelaide Strikers;
3. Sydney Sixers;
4. Sydney Thunder;
5. Melbourne Renegades;
6. Melbourne Stars;
7. Hobart Hurricanes;
8. Brisbane Heat. 

Big Bash League has the 6th highest number of attendants in all the cricket tournaments around the world.
